Great drive, pretty landscape, plenty of surfers to watch.
Dume Beach Cove

Park near an amazing cliff overlooking the ocean, and then hike down to the beach. The drive is also lovely.
Venice Beach

On the border between Venice and Santa Monica. Walk south to the Venice Boardwalk, for potential oddities (e.g. Venice Freak Show, 909 Ocean Front Walk).
